An Introduction

Hi, and thanks for visiting! I’m Paige. I’ve been interested in family history for about as long as I can remember and started researching in earnest a few years ago. After a long stint of looking predominantly at my dad’s Irish ancestors (and banging my head against the wall after a while), I turned to researching my mom’s family. Her mother’s ancestors were all from Maine or, way way back, Massachusetts, and had been in the US since around the time of the Great Migration from England to the States in the early 1600s. This blog will largely chronicle the research on my Maine ancestors. For those of you from “away” — i.e., not from Maine — the term “Downeast” refers to the easternmost parts of the state, or can be used more generally to mean eastward.
